Technical advice: troubleshooting
- Can I copy the language lab on to our network for students to use?
Yes - right click on the CD in "my Computer", click "Explore". Copy the "lab" folder and its entire contents to a convenient place on your computer. - The Language Lab quizzes don't work
To play the Language Lab quizzes the Macromedia Flash player is required. To download the up-to-date version of the player go to: www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer
Alternatively, the CD also contains '.exe' versions of the quizzes, which do not require the Flash player. - The 'Why study languages?' PowerPoint Presentations don't work
The PowerPoint presentations use Microsoft PowerPoint 2003. You can download a copy of the PowerPoint 2003 Viewer for free. The PowerPoint Viewer is a program used to run presentations on computers that don't have Microsoft PowerPoint installed. We have also created alternative versions of the presentations which will work on older versions of PowerPoint. - The 'What students say' video clips don't work
Windows Media Player 9 or higher is required to play the video files, which is available free from: www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia - The Acrobat files won't open
In order to display Acrobat files (pdf) you will need to download and install the free Acrobat reader which can be obtained from www.adobe.com - The sound will not play
Try the following steps to ensure sound will play correctly:
Check your sound card (if you have one) is installed correctly.
Check your headphones/speakers are plugged in correctly.
Check your volume is turned up sufficiently.
