All pupils learn either French or German in years 7-9. Pupils learn to understand and use spoken and written language in a variety of topics and realistic situations. We offer GCSE and A Level courses in French and German and Sixth Form students will be given the opportunity to do a Beginners’ Spanish course from September ’08. Pupils are encouraged to look for patterns in the language, to adapt sentences for their own use and to develop a good memory for learning new vocabulary and structures. They also learn about the culture and customs in the country of the language they are studying and are expected to meet and converse with native speakers on a weekly basis
