In Media Studies we look at the way information is communicated focusing on television, radio, film, the press, advertising and internet technologies. Pupils will have the opportunity to create, star in, film and produce their own DVD’s, learn to recognise the hidden meanings behind many different texts, expand their knowledge and understanding of films and newspapers along with creating their own persuasive adverts.
Courses
BTEC
This course places emphasis on practical knowledge of the media focusing on real industry skills. Therefore pupils can expect to use their creative and technical skills whilst learning about the industry.
A level
This course has slightly changed recently and will involve two sections. The first module teaches you about the different media platforms such as television or print, combined with how to understand the different and sometimes hidden meanings behind the texts. The second is a chance to prove your understanding of these different techniques into practice by producing your own media texts.
