Food Technology:

Year Seven are looking at hygiene and safety issues. Learning how to use equipment safely and correctly. The importance of fruit and vegetables in our diet and using healthy ingredients in practicals.

Year Eight are learning about staple foods - bread, rice and potatoes and working with foods from around the world, designing and creating a three course airline meal.

Year Nine are learning about the four different methods of cake making and the main functions of the nutrients. Our practical sessions are based on these pastry and biscuit products.

Food Technology is a very popular subject among the Year Ten and Elevens and our GCSE classes are often over subscribed. For GCSE our students are looking at the food industry. They are planning and developing their own food product. GCSE Food Technology is largely focused on practical with 60% of their marks determined by coursework and 40% by examination.
