All members of the school community should adopt sensible precautionary measures re hygiene. These include: Remaining at home if feeling unwell. If you have any concerns regarding possible flu symptons contact your GP by telephone or NHS Direct on 0845 4647. Further details can be found on the NHS Direct website www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk. General infection control practices and good hand hygiene can help to stop the spread of all viruses, including the latest strain of influenza. This includes covering your nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing, using a tissue when possible, disposing of dirty tissues promptly and carefully, maintaining good basic hygiene for example washing hands frequently with soap and water to reduce the spread of the virus from your hands to face or to other people. Cleaning hard surfaces (eg door handles) frequently using a normal cleaning product and, finally, making sure your children follow this advice. Children who are feeling unwell should tell their teacher/Year Manager. We will update our website as and when we receive more guidelines/ clarification.

Mobile Technology Zones Following consultation with the student council and staff we have agreed to trial 'Mobile Technology Zones' in school. This means that, unlike the present situation, where mobile phones/ MP3 players cannot be used in school at any time (including breaks), we have agreed to have a few zones within school where students can listen to music (through headphones) and use their mobile phones at breaks and lunchtimes. These areas will be clearly signed. Students who use these technologies outside these zones, or use them without due consideration of others (eg videoing, photographs, loud music) could have their phones/ MP3 players confiscated and normal school sanctions will apply. This is initially a trial and we welcome feedback from students, staff, parents and carers. I would like to remind all students, parents and carers that these technologies are brought into school at the students own risk and the school cannot take responsibility for loss or theft. However, if the item is confiscated it will be placed in a labelled, sealed bag in the school safe to await collection from the student/ parent as appropriate. Andrew Fell Headteacher |
