Links with German Partner School

CeciliengyMnasium, Bielefeld

Since 2008, following a visit by German teacher Frau Gentejohann, Chantry High School has had links with our partner school, the Ceciliengymnasium (Ceci) in Bielefeld, Germany. In December 2009 Chantry students in Years 8 and 9 took part in the first visit to the school to meet their German friends, which was funded partly thanks to UK-German Connection. The visit was a huge success. The staff and pupils at Ceci made us feel so welcome and our own students were fantastic.

In June this year, three teachers from Ceci visited us at Chantry to plan future activities and to discuss the possibility of a more formal exchange visit. This possibility could now become a reality, as students in next year’s Year 9 have been offered the chance to visit Bielefeld at the end of November and stay with German penpals and their families. We hope that the German students will also be able to visit Chantry and stay with our pupils in July 2011. More information later ...
