Chantry Grenadier Guards
Suffolk Army Cadet Force Ipswich Grenadier Guards Detachment moved to Chantry High School on 8 March 2012
A new era began on 8 March when the Ipswich Guards Detachment of Suffolk Army Cadet Force who were originally based in the Territorial Army centre on Yarmouth Road moved to Chantry High School marking the cooperation between the School and the Army Cadet Force.
The official 'March In' guests included Mr Jamie Daniels, Deputy Head of Chantry High School, Colonel Kelvin Ives, Commandant of Suffolk Army Cadet Force, a former pupil of Chantry High, members of the Royal British Legion with their standards and family and friends of the cadets.
From 8 March Ipswich Grenadier Guards was renamed Chantry Grenadier Guards. The detachment is commanded by Sergeant Instructor Carl Clarke and parades on a Thursday evening from 7.00pm until 9.30pm at the Chantry Sports Centre and takes youngsters between the ages of 12 and 18.
Chantry detachment is part of C Company based at the TA Centre Ipswich. Covering Ipswich and the surrounding areas with detachments in the following locations: TA Centre, Thurleston High School, Ipswich Academy, Felixstowe, Hadleigh, Kesgrave and Woodbridge
